Miranda Gray was born in Miami, Florida in 1955. She received a BFA in painting, and an MFA in ceramic sculpture at San Francisco Art Institute in the 1980's. She designed textiles in New York City, was a silversmith in Austin, TX, and designed bronzes for a factory while living in India.
In 2002, when she moved to Northern New Mexico, she discovered Egg Tempera, and began to paint in this medium in earnest. In conjunction with this, she returned to textile design, creating her own line of prayer flags. She lives in Pojoaque, NM with her husband Bruce Gray and her two dogs. She grows food, knits, and is forever making art.
(She changed her name from Cindy to Miranda in 1992.)
